We booked a 8 night tour holiday of Istanbul, Troy and Ephesus with Page & Moy for early May with an extension of 5 nights in the final hotel at Kusadasi on the Aegean coast. The tour guide provided was a Turk with excellent English language skills and an encyclopaedic knowledge of the history of the sites and the region. He made sure the whole holiday went very smoothly and every place visited was explained very thoroughly and he kept our interest throughout.  The tour was planned for 4 nights (3 full days) in Istanbul,

1 day visiting the Cisterna Basilica, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, the former monastery of St Saviour in Chora and the Grand Bazaar.

1 day visiting the Topkapi Palace, the Spice Bazaar and a boat ride on the Bosphorus, followed by a walk through a Moslem cemetery and Mosque.

1 night in a hotel near Canakkale on the Bosphorus after a day spent visiting WW1 memorials on the Gallipoli peninsular

1 night in a hotel at Ayvalik after a day spent visiting Troy, then lunch in a typical Turkish village with a demonstration of how to prepare Turkish coffee.

2 nights in a hotel in Kusadasi after a day visiting Pergamon and the Asclepion, a reputed medical centre of the ancient world.
